This is an example of the sort of email I pay attention to:

We’re playing this one tomorrow night:
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Down by the Charles, on the Charles really, down in Allston.  Lots of good bands doing it plein air style.

This is also the sort of email that makes me consider buying new underwear (WHO HAS TIME FOR LAUNDRY), jumping into my car and just GOING. Consider being the key word here, unfortunately.
In case I’m losing you, let me spell it out. On the banks of ye olde Charles River, tonight, these people will be playing instruments, acoustically:
Banditas . Hyena . Needy Visions . Arkm Foam (of Peace, Loving) . Pile . Pancho The Kid . Brendon Wood(of Devil Music/Debo Band) . Gracious Calamity . Ryan Krause . Rotten Apples . Hands and Knees . Kal Marks . Hot Tub Panorama . Olivia . Ben Potrykus (of Bent Shapes)
7 PM/8 PM/be cool facebook
Futhermore, I’ve been listening to Kal Marks all day

I think we can all agree that Showpaper is pretty important, right? Without this bi-weekly rag, how would we know what cool shows we could bring our sixteen year old cousin to? What about the show that perfectly matches your astrological sign? Not to mention a window into just how creepy people can be (I Saw You).

We need it, that’s for sure. Which is why you should consider coming out to the Showpaper Benefit TONIGHT at 285 Kent!

And get stoked for the Darlings Pet the Ghost 7″ release on August 10th

boston // fat history month

July 12, 2012 § 1 Comment

I’ve been putting off doing laundry (well, really, who wakes up in the morning and exclaims “YES! FINALLY! LAUNDRY DAY!”? No one) since I woke up this morning, drinking lots of coffee and making different foods and listening to tons of things.

Things like Fat History Month, over and over and over… If you’re a Boston resident, you might know these guys fairly well. If you ain’t… well, that’s why I’m here.

Two Fun Facts:
1. Fat History Month were champions of a spirited (I really want to use “spritely” today) internet campaign during the last Boston Phoenix Best Music Poll that landed them as winners of the created-for-them Write-In category.
2. They’re playing in Allston at WC on Saturday (ask a punk), and Sunday in Brooklyn at Shea Stadium with Punks on Mars.

Where Am I?
