I’ve been on a pretty incessant rose-colored-glasses (or not?) Boston kick as of late. Something about planning to move to a new apartment, and realizing we’re all getting older / behaving the same, and looking at pictures of Clarence (he’s my cat) as a kitten in Allston in the arms of my friends, it’s a lot.
I’m pulling back from being a nostalgic loser (someone needs to write the book, though), and just posting more about Boston shows as a way of acting out, so, Internet, I hope you’ll indulge this latest burst of teenage angst.
Really this is all a very dramatic way of telling you there’s a JEFF the Brotherhood show at TT the Bears tonight (I first heard JEFF in my friend Jay from Frogball’s kitchen. See, I’m being ridiculous).
And in the spirit of Boston-love, I ask you to wrap your head around the rest of the line-up (with convenient set-times!)
Such a good night. Plus doesn’t TT’s have AC?

Today’s a special day. I have been clicking “yes” on Ex-Magician’s Facebook event invites fooor about… geez… six months now? Keep thinking I’ll somehow apparate myself into Charlie’s Kitchen on a Monday (don’t we all wish that could happen? #wafflefries), but it keeps not happening…
It’s happening! Ex-Magicians tape release*** is at WWTA tonight, with…
NO FUN (“loud and ribald and a wonderfully chaotic mixture of everything you like”)
DIG SAFE (“strike a real “groovy” chord with me, like if ash from evil dead stumbled into a teenage stoner comedy and started a band in the 3rd act”)
… And I will finally be there.
Quotes are Jon’s because it’s 9 in the morning and I have to leave in fifteen minutes (and the part where he nails it).
***Added bonus is how much I like this tape. Talented friends, you make my life easy

Here’s your dilemma, Boston, as I see it…
1. Royal Headache at PA’s Lounge
I got to see these dudes Wednesday night in NYC, as my comrades and I were among the way-a-lot of people packed into the Cake Shop basement. I was fully prepared to be underwhelmed but was not expecting the reality (to be completely floored – everything was right). The kind of right that makes you want to go home immediately and revisit the record. Plus there are a bunch of hilarious pictures of my friends (somehow I avoided the lense) over at Brooklyn Vegan
2. Buddy Rock at its FINEST
at WWTA, 7 PM.
I have absolutely no idea which is the right decision.
