I just wanted to share this…
Yea, that’s Davila 666 covering The Nerves’ “Hanging on the Telephone” (not Blondie, kid). I don’t know if I’ve fully related to you how much I dig them. Plus, you can see my friend!!! Guess which random boy it is!
Think that’s it. I have to go do some laundry. Carry on.

It’s pretty awesome having friends with musical taste you can completely trust.
Because, really, there simply isn’t enough time in a day to listen to every band that crosses your path (especially when you have a strict daily regimen of The Lemonheads and Fleetwood Mac to get through).
The Liminanas are prime example. One person mentions them, then two more, then suddenly you realize that you would be a Grade A Fool not to see these purveyors of French cool in the basement on Cake Shop on August 18th (today).
So, that’s what I’m going to do. As tempting as it is to go see Against Me!, I can’t not.
Frances McDormand showed up at their Death By Audio show last night, I wonder who will be there tonight?

Here’s what I imagine life is like for Sleepover Shows…
“What do you want to do today?” “Record three bare-bones versions of songs by This Really Cool Band On Tour/From Boston!” “Where?” “Somewhere random!!!”
They just posted #63, and I actually have to RT (that’s retweet, Twitter-phobe) it. I have a giant place in my heart for Faces on Film, you see, and, thanks to Sleepover Shows, you can hang out in Mike Fiore’s kitchen while he plays you some songs.
I encourage you to check out the whole thing on the site but I figured I’d post one of the videos here as well.

I’m girlishly excited about this one.
Then some White Fence.
Capped off with Woods?
Don’t even try to talk to me mid-set, I will not react well.
9 PM $15 Bowery Ballroom, tonight!

I’m not exaggerating when I tell you I absolutely love Deer Tick.
First and only time I saw them was at Harper’s Ferry, over a year (maybe two?) ago, with Faces on Film. I left the show raving lunatic and bought my brother a CD.
Well, I’m really excited because they are playing a FREE show TONIGHT at Pier 54 (which I have learned is on the Hudson River, a river I just realized I have not seen since I moved here in September. Isn’t that absurd?).
Here’s what I know. Doors are at 6, it’s put on by something called River Rocks, and I watched a Real Estate video from last year that made it look cool. Also playing? Western Mass’s DOM and NYC’s Translations.
Maybe this’ll happen…
