I’ve been on a pretty incessant rose-colored-glasses (or not?) Boston kick as of late. Something about planning to move to a new apartment, and realizing we’re all getting older / behaving the same, and looking at pictures of Clarence (he’s my cat) as a kitten in Allston in the arms of my friends, it’s a lot.
I’m pulling back from being a nostalgic loser (someone needs to write the book, though), and just posting more about Boston shows as a way of acting out, so, Internet, I hope you’ll indulge this latest burst of teenage angst.
Really this is all a very dramatic way of telling you there’s a JEFF the Brotherhood show at TT the Bears tonight (I first heard JEFF in my friend Jay from Frogball’s kitchen. See, I’m being ridiculous).
And in the spirit of Boston-love, I ask you to wrap your head around the rest of the line-up (with convenient set-times!)
JEFF the Brotherhood

Such a good night. Plus doesn’t TT’s have AC?

Here’s your dilemma, Boston, as I see it…
1. Royal Headache at PA’s Lounge
I got to see these dudes Wednesday night in NYC, as my comrades and I were among the way-a-lot of people packed into the Cake Shop basement. I was fully prepared to be underwhelmed but was not expecting the reality (to be completely floored – everything was right). The kind of right that makes you want to go home immediately and revisit the record. Plus there are a bunch of hilarious pictures of my friends (somehow I avoided the lense) over at Brooklyn Vegan
RADIO CONTROL (Somerville, MA)
WHITE PAGES (Cambridge, MA)
GUILTY PARTY (Somerville, MA)
2. Buddy Rock at its FINEST

Bent Shapes (you may remember them as Girlfriends)
Slow Animal (these guys are from NEW JERSEY
Earthquake Party!
Fat Creeps
at WWTA, 7 PM.
.
I have absolutely no idea which is the right decision.

Last night, 11:30, I was standing in the grocery store checkout line, lettuce and kitty litter in hand, when I got a text message from my good friend Laura… “Wait YCBAW is breaking up??”. Well, I dropped the litter.
Care of some sleuthing (thanks Allston Pudding!), it seems that our not-related-to-Harry-Potter darlings are on the verge of a hiatus, a line-up change, and who knows what else. I’m not entirely sure what all this means for the future of the band, but I’d veer on the side of Getting-Your-Arse-To-Great-Scott…

You Can Be A Wesley
Magic Magic
Beast Make Bomb
Night Fruit
Great Scott $8 9 PM

I would like you to enjoy some videos by Boston favorites that have popped up in the past week or so. I don’t know which one I like more, and I like that I don’t have to choose.
First, embrace Pretty & Nice in a very colorful attic, playing a song you might be familiar with…
.
Next, Earthquake Party! in a white room, with a song you should definitely get to know…
.
And please, allow me to leave you with some advice… if you are not driving cross country or working the night shift, do not drink a large red eye at 10 PM. In the words of Ted Mosby’s mother, “Nothing good happens after 2 am” (I don’t think she meant tofu binges but that’s what’s happening here in NYC).
